Senior leaders from the Parramatta River Catchment Group’s (PRCG) member and partner organisations met on 11 March for an Executive Briefing to celebrate the progress in revitalising the Parramatta River and learn about the PRCG’s future direction.

PRCG Chairperson Councillor Penny Pedersen recognised the collective effort that helped achieve the Parramatta River Masterplan’s goal of delivering three new swim sites by 2025, marking an important milestone in the long-term vision to make the river a living river.

PRCG Coordinator Alexi Gilchrist outlined the PRCG’s evolving strategic direction, providing regional leadership for continued improvement in waterway health, and the need for continued collaboration across government and the community.

Keynote speaker Eamon Waterford, Chief Executive Officer of the Committee for Sydney, spoke about the importance of ‘density done well’ to build a more liveable and resilient city, drawing on the organisation’s work in urban policy, research, and cross-sector collaboration.

The event highlighted the important role PRCG member organisations play in improving the river’s health and ensuring the Parramatta River continues to thrive as the ecological, cultural, and recreational heart of Sydney.

The PRCG is progressing the development of its new strategic plan, which will be released in June.
